This week, ATFP celebrated the birthday of our founder and president, Dr. Ziad Asali, [2] with a sumptuous chocolate cake and – mercifully – an absence of song.
This was a chance for me to reflect, with great pride and joy, on more than a decade of close personal friendship, and 6 years of professional association, with him. Ziad continues to play a unique role in effectively serving the cause of Palestine in Washington, DC and passionately helping advance the American national interest in a two-state solution. And it's an honor and a pleasure to work with him.

As luck would have it, yesterday our Communications Director also discovered an overlooked brief video profile of the life of Dr. Asali and his wife Naila that had been produced and aired by the Palestinian Wattan TV in 2012. In 10 minutes, this video provides a window into Ziad’s personal story and offers a warm glimpse of the deep commitments driving him.
