The Arab League (AL) hailed on Thursday the initial reconciliation agreement signed by Palestinian rival groups Hamas and Fatah on the controversial points in Cairo.
The AL called to mobilize all Arab and Palestinian efforts in order to transform this agreement into real ground and to start implementation immediately.
It also called on the unity of all Palestinian factions and civil societies to provide the required support to end the inter- Palestinian split and root the national reconciliation in a democratic frame.
Fatah and Hamas representatives on Wednesday signed a preliminary agreement on all controversial issues including the elections and the formation of the interim government in Cairo.
The pan-Arab organization also hailed Egypt's keen and loyal efforts to sponsor this agreement in consistency with the resolutions of Arab summits and the Arab League council at the ministerial level.
The AL condemned the remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the conciliation, who asked the Palestinians to "choose either peace with Israel or peace with Hamas" after Fatah and Hamas reached the initial agreement.
The AL called the international community represented in the United Nations Security Council to stand firm against the Israeli trend to avoid achieving peace and deepen the division among Palestinian parties.
