Three Palestinians were injured and five others detained during the weekly protests against the separation wall that Israel is building in the West Bank, witnesses and medical sources said Friday.
The witnesses said that the Israeli army dispersed by rubber bullets and tear gas canisters a demonstration near the village of Bel'ein, west of Ramallah, in the West Bank.
Medical sources said one handicapped teenager was lightly injured and dozens were treated for inhaling tear gas. The witnesses said during the protest, the Israeli soldiers arrested three Israeli peace activists who joined the demonstration.
The witnesses added that the demonstrators, backed by members of international solidarity movement (ISM), waved Palestinian flags and chanted anti-wall slogans, where the soldiers fired rubber bullets and tear gas canisters.
Similar anti-wall protest also broke out in the village of al- Ma'sara, near the West Bank city of Bethlehem. Medical sources said that two Palestinian demonstrators were lightly injured, and two others were detained.
The Palestinians go for weekly protests against the wall and against the settlements as part of a "popular resistance" that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Fatah party had called for.
