Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has ordered the reshuffling of Fatah's military posts in Lebanon, Palestinian sources told Al-Liwaa newspaper Tuesday. "The move follows last month's assassination of Kamal Medhat, the deputy of Palestine Liberation Organization representative in Lebanon Abbas Zaki," Al-Liwaa said. Medhat was killed along with three other people in a bombing that targeted his motorcade at the entrance to the southern refugee camp of Mieh Mieh on March 23. The Palestinian sources told the daily the formation comes as part of efforts to reorganize Fatah in Lebanon in order to overcome internal differences. Al-Liwaa said Abbas personally informed Fatah's Central Military official Adib Hassan about his decision. Hassan has recently arrived in Beirut. The informed sources told the newspaper that Abbas named Colonel Mahmoud Abdel-Hamid Issa as commander of the military forces in the southern city of Sidon and the surrounding area. Three officers, Talal al-Urduni, Mohammad Madani and Mohammad al-Sabarbari will also assist Issa. Al-Liwaa said Issa is a ranking Fatah official who had a role in the arrest of several wanted individuals from Fatah al-Islam and Jund al-Sham in the southern refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh. Abbas' order also includes appointing Colonel Abu Ayad Shaalan Fatah's military commander in the Beirut region.
