ATFP Condemns Burning of Chrisitan Churches in Palestinian Occupied Territories

Washington, D.C., September 18 – The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) condemned today the acts of arson committed over the weekend against churches in the occupied West Bank. Unknown perpetrators firebombed at least 5 churches over the weekend in Nablus, Tulkarem and Tubas in the northern West Bank. The attacks occurred in the context of widespread protests over the weekend across the Muslim world over remarks made about Islam by Pope Benedict XVI.

ATFP Donates $10,000 to Palestinian Hospital

Washington, D.C., January 17, 2007 -- The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) today announced another donation of $10,000 for Palestinian humanitarian relief to the Red Crescent Society Hospital in Jerusalem. ATFP launched an appeal in May 2006 to collect donations for humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people. ATFP Urges US and Worldwide Intervention to Restore Holy Site Status Quo, Precent Israeli Construction of Expnaded Access Bridge

ATFP views with the utmost gravity construction that commenced yesterday on the Mughrabi Gate bridge leading up to the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount compound in Jerusalem. Israel plans to construct a new and massively-expanded access bridge to the compound to replace the wooden structure that had been built in 2005 after the exisitng earthwork ramp had collapsed. Given the extremely heightened religious sensitivities regarding the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount compound as well as the unresolved political status of Jerusalem, any construction in this area
