ATFP is a non-profit organization advocating for a two-state solution, with the belief that such a goal will advance America’s security interests. It is an organization committed to working within the American political system for a Palestinian state along side Israel.

At an ATFP Event

The tasks and responsibilities of ATFP interns normally include varying degrees of conducting research, attending briefings, writing summaries, and assisting in organizing events. In addition to this, some clerical tasks such as answering phones, copying and the running of errands are expected. The small office environment of ATFP provides for direct contact with the organizations leaders and greater responsibility in day-to-day tasks.

The view from the ATFP office

Interning at ATFP offers the opportunity to attain a more in-depth knowledge of the complexities of the Israeli-Palestine conflict and the implications of the regional politics on the conflict. Interning at ATFP provides the opportunity to attend briefings and policy presentations throughout Washington DC at various think tanks such as Carnegie Endowment, US Institute for Peace and the Brookings Institute.

"My personal experience interning at American Task Force on Palestine has been very positive. It is a small non-profit organization composed of a very tight knit group of people obviously passionate about their work.

Interning at ATFP gave me the opportunity to learn more about the complexities of the Israeli-Palestine conflict and how the politics of the broader Middle Eastern region play into this conflict. I was given the opportunity of attending briefings and policy presentations on the Hill and at various think tanks such as Carnegie Endowment, US Institute for Peace and the Brookings Institute to name a few. As a European coming from a political environment that in recent years has become very critical of American politics and policy, ATFP has illustrated the possibilities offered and the openness of the American system. It is a relatively new organization but due to their pragmatic approach, they have access to key officials in the White House and the State Department.

In addition to this I was very lucky to be present and part of ATFP’s first annual Gala honoring Palestinian-Americans for their outstanding contributions to both communities."
