Jordan's Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh stressed Thursday on the country's continued efforts to revive the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

 

At a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the minister highlighted Jordan's efforts to relaunch the peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian state on the basis of the 1967 borders.

 

Judeh briefed the Palestinian president about Jordanian King Abdullah II's recent visit to the United States and Russia, where he stressed on the Palestinian issue.

 

For his part, Abbas underlined the ties between Jordan and the Palestinians, stressing the need for continued coordination to resolve the Palestinian issue.

 

He also noted the key role Jordan plays in pushing the peace process forward.

 

The two sides also renewed their rejection of the unilateral Israeli measures, including settlement activities.
