A delegation from Hamas arrived Wednesday in Bulgaria in the first visit by officials from the Palestinian Islamic movement to a EU country.
In a statement, Hamas' parliamentary bloc described the visit as "unprecedented."
The EU classifies Hamas, which controls the Palestinian enclave of Gaza Strip, as a terrorist organization.
The statement said that the three-member delegation, representing Hamas in the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), " will hold a series of political and parliamentary meetings and will meet leaders of Bulgarian parties."
In January 2012, Hamas officials visited Switzerland, angering Israel and the Jewish lobbyists in other countries.
