The Palestinian leadership on Sunday rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's call to resume peace talks without preconditions.

"Netanyahu's call is not serious as long as it does not respect the Palestinians requirement for restarting the peace process," said Yasser Abed Rabbo, a member of the Executive Committee of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

"We will return to the negotiations as soon as Netanyahu and his government stop the settlement activities" and accept the two- state solution with Israel committing itself to the pre-1967 borders, Abed Rabbo told Xinhua.

Netanyahu made his call to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Saturday, when Israeli President Shimon Peres asked Netanyahu to form the Jewish country's next government.

The Palestinians is watching closely the forming process of the Israeli coalition, asserting the new government will be judged by its policies rather than its structure.

The Palestinian-Israeli negotiations stopped in 2010 over a dispute on Jewish settlement construction in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, which the Palestinians want as a future capital.
