Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is set to visit Egypt on Jan. 11 to discuss Palestinian reconciliation issues, Egyptian official MENA news agency reported Wednesday quoting a Palestinian source.

Sakhr Bseiso, a member of Fatah central committee, said that Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amr extended the invitation to Abbas while visiting the West Bank city of Ramallah last Saturday.

Abbas will meet with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi during the visit, according to Bseiso.

Bseiso stressed the importance of forming a national unity government to oversee the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Palestinian territories.
