Palestinian Authority Minister of Finance Nabil Qassis said Thursday that most public sector salaries will be paid next Monday.
Employees earning under 4,000 shekels ($1,000) will be paid in full, while those with higher salaries will receive 70 percent of their monthly salary, Qassis said.
The minister stressed the payment of full salaries applies to 90 percent of public sector workers, and assured that the remainder payment to higher-earners will be transferred soon.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Monetary Authority on Thursday issued a request to Palestinian banks not to apply fines for bounced checks while public sector salaries are delayed.
The authority will "facilitate banking transactions for public sector employees, especially during the financial crisis that the Palestinian Authority is experiencing," a statement from the authority said.
Salaries were delayed weeks in June as the West Bank government faces a shortfall in aid payments and growing debts.
