ACP is pleased to announce its recently established partnership with The Four Homes of Mercy (FHOM), Al Malj’ Alkhairy Al Orthodoxy Al Araby in Arabic, a clinical residence for severely disabled Palestinian men and women. ACP has facilitated a donation of $10,000 to FHOM to provide permanent residency and clinical care to 78 patients, including 25 children and 53 adult men and women.
FHOM offers specialized services to meet the needs of people with severe and chronic disabilities resulting from neurological disorders and/or old age; FOHM provides these services irrespective of religion, gender or economic background.
At FHOM, residents’ families only contribute if able and of the few families that qualify to contribute, the family is asked to give no more than 5% of the total cost of the patient’s care. The cost per resident per month at FHOM is 589JD (equivalent to $830).
FHOM works to use new technologies and recreational medical programs to increasingly enhance the independence of its residents. Aside from clinical services, FHOM provides weekly music and dance therapy, occupational therapy, art therapy, recreational trips and weekly social events for its 73 residents.
Central to the work of FHOM is the idea that all persons deserve the highest level of care available and moreover, that the quality of FHOM’s professional performance and care is expected to consistently increase as FHOM care-givers are expected to continue to expand their awareness of the issues affecting healthcare for special needs patients, orphans and the elderly.
ACP is grateful to be able to support the important work of the Four Homes of Mercy and hopes to continue the fruitful relationship with the team at FHOM as they continue to develop their programs and services for Palestinians in need.
