A senior Palestinian National Authority (PNA) official denied on Tuesday reports that the ties between the PNA and Tunisia have been tensed due to political differences.

"The ties between the two sides are strong and continuous and there is full ongoing diplomatic coordination," said Nemer Hammad, an aid to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Arab media reports said on Monday that there is tension in he diplomatic ties between the PNA on one hand, Tunisia, Libya and Syria on the other, adding that the three countries refused to receive Abbas this week.

Hammad said in a statement published by the state-run news agency "Wafa" that the ties between the PNA and Tunisia "are ties of brotherhood," adding "the Palestinians will continue being grateful to Tunisia which always stood for the Palestinian legitimate rights."

"All the rumors about tension in the ties between the Palestinian leadership and the Arab countries are rootless and untrue," Hammad said, adding "it is part of the campaign to weaken the good ties with our brothers."

Abbas, who went on a tour in several Arab countries, was scheduled to visit in Tunisia, Libya and Syria. However, he visited Libya, but didn't meet with Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, and his visits to Syria and Tunisia were canceled.

Abbas held on Tuesday talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Abbas briefed Mubarak, according to Wafa, on the recent developments and the Israeli actions against the Palestinian holy sites in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
