Bethlehem - Ma'an/Agencies - Israeli warplanes blasted two areas in the southern Gaza Strip Thursday morning, reportedly following the launch of a projectile from the northern Strip hours earlier.

Israeli news sources said the pilots hit two smuggling tunnels at Rafah. One tunnel worker was killed by an electrical shock in a nearby tunnel shortly following the strikes.

The report said Gazan militants successfully fired one projectile, which landed near a kibbutz. No injuries were reported, no alarm sounded, and crews were searching for the impact site. No Palestinian military group has claimed the launch.

Two Palestinians died Wednesday after a damaged fuel line in a smuggling tunnel exploded. The tunnel was near impact sites from earlier Israeli airstrikes, and locals say damage is caused to surrounding tunnels by the constant blasts.

Israel has launched strikes five out of the past seven days. A 25 September strike killed three tunnel workers.
